Day 12 Video Update

I’ve come to enjoy using this blog to explore different methods by which to share pieces of my trip with the folks back home. I’ve been messing around with shooting videos on the trail using the monopod trekking pole attachment and cell phone mount I decided to bring along on my AT thru hike attempt.

Day 12 turned out to be a wild one! I spent about 8 hours on the side of the road waiting for the trail to open while the NPS conducted a controlled burn of about a 4 mile stretch of trail that we’d hoped to hike on. Ultimately, we (there were about 30 hikers in total in a similar situation) were able to hit the trail around 6:00PM, and salvaged the last 11 miles of a 15 mile day through smoke by headlamp.

Cheers,

Billy

  1. I have always wondered what the trail looked like so it was fun to see the trail behind you. Very impressed that you keep a steady hand to record as you walk.

    1. Thank you Weiffenbach clan! Tell Jon I tried to upload such a video, but YouTube took it down pretty quickly – something about their terms of service…

Just joking. Thanks for the time and support in following along!
